Chamique Holdsclaw Joins MHL In 2017 The MHL will be welcoming in it's first female GM when former Tennessee Vols great Chamique Holdsclaw signs in for the 2017 season. Holdsclaw, who coached alongside League Founder Mike Hominik at the 17 and Under AAU basketball level from 2013-15, will be replacing long time charter member Matthews Jackson (Wowboyz). Jackson started off his MHL career by making the post-season four of his first seven years in the league which included two straight trips to the Final Four in 2009 and 2010. In '10 he went on to lose to longtime rival Waterboyz in his only championship appearance. Jackson however has gone a dismal 25-53 (.320) since his last playoff appearance in 2010 which included a 1-12 record in 2015. The 2015 Wowboyz joined the 2010 YNER/11 as the only two GM's in league history to record less then two victories in a season. Jackson's departure leaves the MHL with five original members from the inaugural season in 2004 (Ballers,Chucky,America's Team,Moose,Big Show). The basketball scrap heap is littered with young men hailed as the “Next Michael.” Chamique Holdsclaw claims the unique distinction of being the first woman driven to the fringes by Jordanian expectations. She is also one of the few players who has bounced back. A three-time NCAA Player of the Year and one-time WNBA savior, Chamique has battled double-teams, achy knees and depression during her long career. She won three titles while playing for the University of Tennessee from 1996-99 while going undefeated against the University Of Connecticut.
